Vogler Brother Boatbuilders constructed this 12-foot clinker-built (lapstrake) boat at their shop in Victoria, BC circa 1950. For many years it was used as a livery boat at the Yellow Point Lodge on Vancouver Island.

Following its stint at Yellow Point, the skiff came into the possession of the Gordon family, and she entered a new career as a recreational rowing craft. When the Gordon family decided that she was “worn out”, the boat was carefully stored in the rafters of the family garage. When garage demolition loomed in 2002, Alistair Gordon donated the skiff to the Oarlock and Sail Wooden Boat Club.

Thanks to its dry storage in the Gordon’s garage, the boat was a good candidate for repair, and since its acquisition by the club, it has been an on-going restoration project for Oarlock and Sail members. Restoration is nearing completion, and the Vogler skiff will soon be ready for another 50 or so years of use.
